Edna Mabel Sherlock, 80, of Gering, died Saturday, December 17, 2005, at Regional West Medical Center, Scottsbluff.
A memorial service will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, December 22, 2005, at the Assembly of God Church, Minatare with Pastor Benjamin Hardt officiating. Cremation was at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory, Scottsbluff. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Angora Cemetery.
Edna was born January 5, 1925, at Broadwater, Nebraska to Spencer and Lillie Mae (Brown) Stites. She graduated from high school in Broadwater. She attended college at Chadron and Lincoln where she received her teaching degree. She taught rural school in the sandhills, at Angora, in Sioux County, at the little pink schoolhouse, at Valentine and at Alliance. On July 19, 1944, she married Clarence Sherlock in Gering. She was also a distributor of Tupperware, Watkins and Conklin products.
She attended the Minatare Assembly of God Church and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Harrison, Gering and Scottsbluff. Edna enjoyed gardening, needlepoint, crochet and crafts.
Survivors include her children, Lillie (Del) Clary of Englewood, Colorado, Ellis Sherlock of Brush, Colorado, Ella (Stanley) Thomas of Ottumwa, Iowa, Leyn (Marcia) Sherlock of Gering, Trina (Roger) Kaufman of Gering; Ida (Jim) Penny of Aurora, Colorado and Chris (Wayne) McGrew of Mitchell; grandchildren, Penny (Mike) Geotz of Aurora, Colorado, Linda (Troy) Lupfer of Mitchell, Paula (Tony) Butler of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Robin (Alex) Goldbach of Germany, Shawna Thomas of Ottumwa, Iowa, JR (Sandra) Muske of Hastings, Connie Nicely of Kimball, Corey (Sheila) Kaufman of Gering, Mike Kaufman of Gering, Crystal (Bret) Kidd of Gering, Brett Penny of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Dylan McGrew of Mitchell and Stacy McGrew of Mitchell; 21 great-grandchildren; and sister, Hazel Kleich of Bridgeport.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, John; sister, Dorenne; and two infant children.
